MiniBatt+
Minibatt+ is a handheld thresher for use in the field. Works excellent when you want to sample directly in different places in the field to check for example water content . It fits for cereals, oilseeds, legumes, grass seeds etc. Using a “gap”, the ears are fed into the machine where a stroke cylinder threshes the kernels / seeds out and collects in a 720 ml can.
There are different sieves to suit the plant species that is being threshed. If the ear does not enter the door opening, e.g. rapeseed and oats it is a stationary feeder available where the ears/pods are torned off.
The battery of 14.4 volts and 2 Ah has a capacity of about 12 samples. It takes about 1 hour to charge and there is a converter that allows charging from e.g. a cigarette lighter outlet. The Minibatt+ has a starting weight of 3.3 kg.
Minibatt+ is a valuable complement to mobile NIR/NIT instruments for measuring e.g. water and protein/oil content. When the plants are threshed with Minibatt+ kernels are presented to the NIR instrument for analysis. A suitable such instrument is the GrainSense that is easy to carry and has calibrations for the most important parameters. In addition, it has a built-in GPS so that the location where the quality is measured is registered.
